Description: Ashley is an abstract art ballpoint pen drawing. Ashley's colors include a soft light pink, a deep burgundy red, warm orange, bright blue, teal green, and lavender. This image is completely abstract with a soft organic feeling. Ashley is wonderful as a cheerful color accent in any room of your home. The complicated and intricate ballpoint pen art work is fascinating up close. You will be drawn to her brilliant colors and linger over her textural details. The border that you see on the thumbnails is a preprinted mat surrounding the image edge. Ashley can be framed with this mat or with additional matting if desired.
Techniques: The original abstract art work for this Giclee was drawn on yellow card stock with a combination of traditional ballpoint pen inks and the newer ballpoint gel inks. The stiff deeply colored paper tends to change the color of ballpoint pen inks which are semi- transparent. In some areas the paper is allowed to show through as in the floral burst pattern or partially show as in the three blue forms. This was one of the first times the artist used gel pens. Gel pens are available in semi transparent, non transparent pastels and metallic colors. This offers an extended color range and controllable coverage of the yellow paper. Fine point markers were also used. The image is smaller than its outer measure due to it's preprinted mat.
