Description: The limited edition giclee print Bird Watching is mildly surrealistic fantasy art. A young male figure seen in profile sits slouched in an incomplete chair. A green cheek conure sits on top of the chair looking out at us. The bird is watching us but the figure seems to not be able to see us. The figure seems to be absorbed in his own fantasy and it is unclear if the bird is real or a part of his fantasy. The warm colors in the color block background include golden browns, red browns, and yellow-greens. These colors create a wall through which we are sure nothing is meant to pass. The figure's skin tone is very pale and cool.
Techniques: The original drawing from which the limited edition giclee print of Bird Watching was created was first sketched with pencil on drawing paper. Pastels were added to the pencil sketch coloring and shaping the figures while leaving the background flat and less defined. The Bird is a Green Cheek Conure and a quick sketch was drawn from life.
