Description: A limited edition giclee print of a sparkling Blue Hydrangea. The flower shows its startling color against a deep background of greens and browns. This digital photograph was taken with the natural light filtered through the trees this shrub grows under. The sparkling blue of the blue hydrangea blossom seems to light the green leaves of the plant, as if you are looking at a magical, instead of an ordinary botanical art subject.
Techniques: Blue Hydrangea is a digital photograph printed as a high quality limited edition giclee print. Sometimes people don't understand the process used to get truly beautiful images from digital photos. For this image I used 7 layers of color correction. Most of those layers were very specific selections, one for the flower, some for specific leaves and one for the ground. There were also color adjustment layers applied to the whole image. Digital photographs can be tricky to print. Without careful corrections, colors can print with a cold green cast. But, this print is beautiful. The image file has been expertly color corrected and test printed until the print image shines with beautiful colors. It is printed on Epson's Semi-Gloss Photo Paper. The paper has a soft gloss finish, beautiful color fidelity, and solid weight.
